When you look back at jewellery trends from five years ago it’s hard to think that bracelets were the must-have item and not earrings. 2015 seemed to be last year of the bracelet and in 2017 the must-have high street item was brightly coloured tassel earrings. You know which one’s I mean and you definitely have one in your jewellery box.
I think the rise of Instagram and being able to see earrings more clearly in photos and videos is what changed the game. I mean how often do you see a close up of someone’s wrist in a photo. It felt like there might have been a chance for the bracelet to reclaim the title spot but conference call chic and zoom ready earrings meant that bracelets will have to wait a bit longer before making a glorious come back. For now, see my 2020 bracelet round-up and what we might see for 2021 bracelet trends..
Personalised Bracelets
Did you know the most searched for bracelet trend in 2020 was “Gladys and Fred Bracelets”? For those who don’t watch the Crown, this relates to the F & G engraved bracelet that Charles gives Camilla in season 4. Netflix seems to be the cause of surges in search requests for jewellery after Connell’s chain from Normal People seemed to break the internet.
It’s been difficult to get a good photo of this bracelet. I think there are also some lovely modern alternatives. Although it might have been more obvious some Chanel with a C & C would have also worked.
Curb Chains and Links
Chunky chains and intricate links have been a staple of 2020. There has been a definite move to less is more and the chunkier the better. Curb chains which more often feature in men’s jewellery have taken on a stronger role in women’s jewellery creating a more unisex trend overall.

Bracelet Tech
Bracelet tech seems to continue to grow in popularity as it’s the most practical way to integrate technology and jewellery. From bracelets that can tell when you’re ovulating to bond touch bracelets that let your partner know that you’re thinking of them.
