Top 5 Acrylic Jewellery Designers

When I think about perspex and acrylic jewellery the first things that comes to my mind is bold colours and fun imagery. It’s very playful with conversational pieces that catch peoples attention. What I love most about acrylic jewellery is that it’s often made by hand and shows true originality.

I’ve gathered together the top five perspex jewellery brands which I think best represent perspex jewellery; Tatty Devine, Lily Kamper, Bonnie Bling, Sour Cherry and Rosa Pietsch.

Tatty Devine

Tatty Devine is currently celebrating 16 years of creating beautiful perspex jewellery. I love how they craft their jewellery in the store by hand and if you want the personal touch and they run regular workshops where you can make your own unique Tatty Devine piece. It’s a brand that you’ve probably seen but might not know the name of. After reading this article you’ll start to notice their jewellery everywhere. Not only is Tatty Devine the creator of the original statement name necklace they also have some superb jewellery collaborations with groups such as The Fawcett Society and WWF. I especially enjoy their Halloween pieces every year and am still promising myself an “Aaargh” Necklace or a ghost broach.

Lily Kamper

I think that some people aren’t so keen on the stylisation of perspex jewellery. For those of you reading this let me introduce you to Lily Kamper

Lily Kamper jewellery has all the colour and fun of acrylic jewellery but there is a distinctive sophistication to her pieces. Her perspex columns are instantly recognisable and incredibly chic. She makes each piece of jewellery using a hand-turned lathe from blocks of resin and Perspex. Definitely not one to shy away from colour. You can see Lily’s love of colour throughout the collections with each piece of Perspex dyed by hand with each colour mixed individually.

Bonnie Bling

I first heard about Bonnie Bling when they were selected to be in the Professional Jeweller Hot 100 for the Trail Blazers section in 2014. As you might guess, they are Scottish based and have made beautiful acrylic jewellery. Most collections are themed around Scotland, whether it’s famous Scots, slang or iconic fauna and flora. I do love the orange highland cow necklace which has become a signature piece. Bonnie Bling also made perspex Scottish Referendum keyrings as well as facemask clips during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

Sour Cherry

Sour Cherry are Sheffield based perspex jewellers and opened their first store in 2014. I was most struck by the vast range of very quirky and kitsch jewellery. They really do have something for everyone. Especially with a diverse range of collection inspirations such as Doctor Who.

May 2020 Update: Since I wrote this article Sour Cherry have moved premises to Afflecks Palace in Manchester. Click here to find out about their new store.

Rosa Pietsch

Rosa Pietsch is a Brighton Fashion Design Graduate who creates beautiful acrylic jewellery with different methods and alongside other materials such as resin, ink and wood.

I really like her designs as they are very colourful and more abstract than Tatty Devine or Sour Cherry. (Although a cat motif often makes an appearance.) If you are looking for something affordable and unique, which is insanely pretty then head over to Rosa’s Etsy store for some serious browsing.
